Tall Kneeling To Standing

A foundational lower-body movement designed to improve unilateral strength, hip stability, and fluid transitions.

01

How to perform.

Follow the sequence — setup is half the lift.

01

Begin in a tall kneeling position on a soft mat with your torso upright and your hips fully extended.

02

Engage your core and step your right foot forward, placing it flat on the floor in a half-kneeling position.

03

Drive through your right heel and midfoot to stand up completely, bringing your left foot forward to meet the right.

04

Step back with your right leg to return to a half-kneeling position with your right knee on the floor.

05

Lower your left knee to the floor to return to the starting tall kneeling position.

06

Repeat the sequence by leading with the opposite leg to ensure symmetrical development.

02

Common mistakes.

Fix these first — they cost reps, kilos, and joints.

  • Using momentum or swinging the arms to stand up
  • Allowing the front knee to cave inward during the transition
  • Leaning the torso too far forward instead of staying upright
  • Banging the knee hard against the floor when descending
