Master the rubber band glute kickback with our step-by-step guide. Learn proper form to isolate your glutes and build lower body strength.
How to Perform
- Loop a small resistance band around both legs, positioning it either just above the knees or around the ankles.
- Stand facing a wall or a sturdy piece of equipment and place your hands on it for balance if needed.
- Shift your weight onto your left leg while keeping a slight bend in the knee to maintain stability.
- Engage your core and slowly kick your right leg straight back behind you while keeping the leg straight.
- Squeeze your glutes at the top of the movement for one second, ensuring you do not arch your lower back.
- Lower your leg back to the starting position under control, maintaining tension on the band throughout the set.
- Complete the desired number of repetitions before switching to the opposite leg.
Common Mistakes
- Arching the lower back to gain extra range of motion
- Letting the band snap the leg back to the starting position
- Leaning too far forward instead of staying upright
