How to Perform

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your hands resting at your sides.
  2. Take a large step forward with your right leg and lower your hips until both knees are bent at approximately 90-degree angles.
  3. Keep your weight distributed evenly between both feet as you stabilize your balance.
  4. Extend your arms straight in front of you or place your hands behind your head while maintaining a vertical torso.
  5. Slowly rotate your upper body toward the right side, looking over your right shoulder as far as comfort allows.
  6. Return your torso to the center and push through your front heel to return to the starting standing position.
  7. Repeat the sequence by stepping forward with the left leg and twisting to the left side.

Common Mistakes

  • Allowing the front knee to collapse inward during the rotation
  • Leaning the torso forward instead of maintaining a vertical spine
  • Rushing the twist and losing balance through the hips
