How to Perform
- Adjust the seat height so that the handles align with the middle of your chest when you are seated.
- Sit with your back and head firmly against the pad and plant your feet flat on the floor for stability.
- Grasp the handles with a full grip and retract your shoulder blades to create a solid base against the backrest.
- Press the handles forward by extending your arms until they are straight but not locked at the elbow.
- Lower the weight slowly under control until the handles are back in the starting position near your chest.
- Maintain a constant tension on the pectorals by avoiding a full rest at the bottom of the repetition.
Common Mistakes
- Flaring the elbows out too wide which puts excessive strain on the shoulder joints.
- Allowing the lower back to arch excessively away from the seat pad during the press.
- Bouncing the weight arms off the safety stops instead of using a controlled range of motion.
