Kettlebell Horn Grip Front Raise
A foundational shoulder isolation movement that builds stable front deltoids and improves grip strength.
How to perform.
Follow the sequence — setup is half the lift.
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold the kettlebell by the vertical handles, also known as the horns.
Breathe in and engage your core to create a stable base for the lift.
Exhale as you raise the kettlebell in a controlled arc until your arms are parallel to the floor.
Maintain a slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement to protect the joint.
Pause for a brief second at the top of the movement to maximize muscle tension.
Lower the kettlebell slowly back to the starting position at your hips without letting it swing.
Reset your posture and repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.
Common mistakes.
Fix these first — they cost reps, kilos, and joints.
- Using momentum or leaning back to swing the weight up.
- Gripping the horns too tightly, which can lead to premature forearm fatigue.
- Lifting the kettlebell above eye level, which shifts tension to the traps.
- Rounding the shoulders forward instead of maintaining a tall, proud chest.
