How to Perform
- Position your toes on the edge of the platform and hinge forward at the hips to rest your forearms on the support pad.
- Lower your heels toward the floor until you feel a deep stretch throughout the entire calf muscle complex.
- Exhale and drive through the balls of your feet to lift your heels as high as possible while keeping your knees locked.
- Squeeze the calves at the top of the movement for one full second to maximize peak contraction.
- Inhale as you slowly control the weight back down to the starting position for the next repetition.
Common Mistakes
- Bending the knees significantly which shifts the tension away from the gastrocnemius.
- Bouncing at the bottom of the movement using momentum rather than muscle fiber recruitment.
- Using a partial range of motion that fails to utilize the full stretch.
