How to Perform

  1. Position your toes on the edge of the platform and hinge forward at the hips to rest your forearms on the support pad.
  2. Lower your heels toward the floor until you feel a deep stretch throughout the entire calf muscle complex.
  3. Exhale and drive through the balls of your feet to lift your heels as high as possible while keeping your knees locked.
  4. Squeeze the calves at the top of the movement for one full second to maximize peak contraction.
  5. Inhale as you slowly control the weight back down to the starting position for the next repetition.

Common Mistakes

  • Bending the knees significantly which shifts the tension away from the gastrocnemius.
  • Bouncing at the bottom of the movement using momentum rather than muscle fiber recruitment.
  • Using a partial range of motion that fails to utilize the full stretch.
