Cable Front Raise Guide: Form, Benefits, and Tips
Master the cable front raise to build stronger anterior deltoids. Follow our step-by-step guide for perfect form and common mistakes to avoid.
How to Perform
- Set the cable pulley to the lowest position and attach a straight bar or a single handle.
- Stand facing away from the machine with the cable running between your legs or beside your body.
- Grasp the handle with an overhand grip and stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart and a slight bend in your knees.
- Exhale as you raise your arms forward until they are parallel to the floor, keeping a slight bend in the elbows.
- Pause for a second at the top of the movement to maximize muscle contraction.
- Inhale as you slowly lower the weight back to the starting position without letting the stack touch.
- Maintain a neutral spine and keep your core braced throughout the entire set.
Common Mistakes
- Using excessive momentum or swinging the torso to lift the weight.
- Leaning backward as the weight rises to compensate for fatigue.
- Shrugging the shoulders toward the ears during the lifting phase.
- Locked elbows which can put undue stress on the joint.
