Standing Quad Stretch Guide: Form and Technique
Master the standing quad stretch to improve flexibility and reduce knee pain. Follow our clear instructions for better lower body mobility.
How to Perform
- Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your core engaged for stability.
- Shift your weight onto your left leg and bend your right knee, bringing your heel toward your glutes.
- Reach back with your right hand to grasp your right ankle or the top of your foot.
- Keep your knees aligned together and your chest upright while gently pulling your heel closer to your body.
- Push your hips forward slightly to deepen the stretch across the front of the thigh.
- Hold the position for 30 seconds before slowly lowering your foot and switching sides.
Common Mistakes
- Arching the lower back excessively
- Allowing the stretching knee to flare out to the side
- Leaning too far forward instead of staying upright
- Pulling on the toes rather than the ankle or foot
