Isometric Wipers Guide: Build a Stronger Chest
Master the Isometric Wiper to increase chest tension and strength. Follow our expert guide for better pectoral recruitment using only your bodyweight.
How to Perform
- Begin in a standard push-up position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width and your core fully engaged.
- Lower your chest toward the floor until your elbows are at a ninety-degree angle.
- Breathe out and push your hands toward each other against the floor without actually moving your palms.
- Maintain this inward tension while slowly shifting your torso two inches to the left, holding for three seconds.
- Shift your torso slowly two inches to the right while maintaining the same inward crushing force with your hands.
- Return to the center position and hold the peak contraction for the final duration of the set before pushing back up.
Common Mistakes
- Losing the inward hand tension during the lateral movement.
- Allowing the hips to sag or the lower back to arch.
- Holding your breath instead of maintaining controlled nasal breathing.
- Moving too quickly which reduces the time under tension.
