Isometric Wipers Guide: Build a Stronger Chest

Master the Isometric Wiper to increase chest tension and strength. Follow our expert guide for better pectoral recruitment using only your bodyweight.

How to Perform

  1. Begin in a standard push-up position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width and your core fully engaged.
  2. Lower your chest toward the floor until your elbows are at a ninety-degree angle.
  3. Breathe out and push your hands toward each other against the floor without actually moving your palms.
  4. Maintain this inward tension while slowly shifting your torso two inches to the left, holding for three seconds.
  5. Shift your torso slowly two inches to the right while maintaining the same inward crushing force with your hands.
  6. Return to the center position and hold the peak contraction for the final duration of the set before pushing back up.

Common Mistakes

  • Losing the inward hand tension during the lateral movement.
  • Allowing the hips to sag or the lower back to arch.
  • Holding your breath instead of maintaining controlled nasal breathing.
  • Moving too quickly which reduces the time under tension.
