How to Do the Hyper Y W Combo | Back Exercise Guide

Master the Hyper Y W Combo to strengthen your lats and improve posture. Step-by-step instructions for this effective Roman chair back exercise.

How to Perform

  1. Position yourself on the hyperextension bench with your hips resting comfortably on the pad and your feet secured.
  2. Lower your torso until it is parallel with the floor while maintaining a neutral spine and a slight bend in the knees.
  3. Extend your arms straight toward the floor with your thumbs pointing upward to prepare for the first phase.
  4. Raise your arms up and out at a forty-five-degree angle to form a Y shape, squeezing your shoulder blades together at the top.
  5. Lower your arms back to the starting position and then pull your elbows down and back toward your hips to perform a row.
  6. Maintain a static, horizontal torso position throughout the entire arm sequence to ensure the back muscles manage the load.
  7. Complete the desired number of repetitions by alternating or combining the Y-raise and the rowing motion.

Common Mistakes
