How to Perform
- Sit on the floor with your legs bent and feet flat, holding a dumbbell in each hand resting on your thighs.
- Lay back slowly while bringing the dumbbells to your chest, ensuring your upper arms rest flat against the floor.
- Position your elbows at a 45-degree angle relative to your torso and tuck your shoulder blades firmly into the ground.
- Press the dumbbells upward toward the ceiling until your arms are fully extended but not locked out.
- Lower the weights under control until your upper arms lightly touch the floor, pausing for a moment to negate momentum.
- Exhale as you press the weights back to the starting position, maintaining a neutral wrist alignment throughout the set.
Common Mistakes
- Bouncing the elbows off the floor to gain momentum.
- Flaring the elbows out at a 90-degree angle, which increases shoulder stress.
- Lifting the lower back or hips off the ground during the press.
- Allowing the wrists to bend backward under the weight of the dumbbells.
