How to Master the Wall Handstand | Strength Guide
Learn the correct form for the wall handstand to build elite shoulder strength and stability with our step-by-step bodyweight guide.
How to Perform
- Place your hands on the floor about six inches away from a wall, keeping them shoulder-width apart with fingers spread wide.
- Kick one leg up towards the wall while simultaneously pushing through your palms to lift your hips over your shoulders.
- Rest your heels lightly against the wall and straighten your legs to create a long, rigid line from your wrists to your ankles.
- Push the floor away actively to shrug your shoulders toward your ears, ensuring your elbows remain fully locked.
- Tuck your pelvis and pull your ribs in to engage your core and prevent excessive arching in your lower back.
- Maintain a neutral neck position by looking at a point on the floor slightly in front of your hands.
- Lower one leg at a time back to the starting position with control to complete the set.
Common Mistakes
- Arching the lower back into a banana shape
- Allowing the elbows to bend or flare outward
- Looking straight at the wall instead of the floor
- Sinking into the shoulder joints rather than pushing upward
