Standing Rope Forearm Guide | Build Grip Strength
Learn how to master the Standing Rope Forearm exercise to increase grip strength and forearm size with our expert, step-by-step cable machine guide.
How to Perform
- Attach a rope handle to the bottom pulley of a cable machine and stand facing it with your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grasp the rope with a neutral grip so your palms face each other and your thumbs point upward.
- Step back slightly to create tension on the cable while keeping your elbows tucked tightly against your ribs.
- Curl your wrists upward toward your body by hinging only at the wrist joint to maximize forearm contraction.
- Hold the peak contraction for one second before slowly lowering your hands back to the starting position.
- Maintain a slight bend in your knees and a neutral spine throughout the entire set to ensure stability.
Common Mistakes
- Using momentum by swinging the torso to lift the weight
- Allowing the elbows to flare out or move away from the body
- Failing to go through a full range of motion at the wrist
- Gripping the rope too loosely which reduces metabolic stress
