Master the wide-stance leg press to target your inner quads and adductors. Follow our expert guide for proper form and common mistakes to avoid.
How to Perform
- Sit firmly in the leg press machine with your back and head pressed against the padded support.
- Place your feet on the platform with a stance significantly wider than shoulder-width and toes pointed slightly outward.
- Disengage the safety bars and lower the platform slowly toward your chest until your knees are at a 90-degree angle.
- Ensure your lower back remains flat against the seat throughout the entire range of motion.
- Press the platform back up by pushing through your heels and mid-foot while keeping your knees aligned with your toes.
- Stop the ascent just before your knees lock out to maintain constant tension on the muscles.
- Re-engage the safety locks once you have completed your desired number of repetitions.
Common Mistakes
- Allowing the lower back or glutes to lift off the seat at the bottom of the movement.
- Locking out the knees forcefully at the top of the rep which transfers tension to the joints.
- Letting the knees cave inward during the pressing phase.
- Using a range of motion that is too shallow to effectively stimulate the muscles.
