How to Perform
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your toes pointed slightly outward.
- Lower your hips back and down until your thighs are parallel to the floor, keeping your weight centered over your mid-foot.
- Keep your chest upright and extend your arms forward or clasp them in front of your chest for balance.
- Maintain this static position while breathing deeply and keeping your core muscles engaged.
- Hold the contraction without moving until your muscles reach absolute fatigue and you can no longer maintain the proper height.
- When your form begins to break, carefully stand back up to the starting position to complete the set.
Common Mistakes
- Allowing the knees to collapse inward toward the midline.
- Rounding the lower back or leaning too far forward with the torso.
- Shifting weight onto the toes and lifting the heels off the ground.
- Holding the breath instead of maintaining steady oxygen flow.
