Foam Roll Adductors: A Step-by-Step Recovery Guide
Learn how to foam roll your adductors correctly to improve hip mobility, relieve inner thigh tightness, and enhance your athletic performance.
How to Perform
- Lie face down on a mat and support your upper body on your forearms like a low plank.
- Place the foam roller parallel to your torso on the side of the leg you intend to roll.
- Bend your knee to 90 degrees and move your leg out to the side, resting your inner thigh directly on top of the roller.
- Slowly shift your body weight side-to-side so the roller moves from just above your knee toward your groin.
- Stop on any particularly sensitive spots and hold for 20 to 30 seconds while breathing deeply.
- Rotate your hip slightly forward and backward to address various fibers of the inner thigh muscle group.
- Repeat the process on the opposite leg to ensure bilateral balance and mobility.
Common Mistakes
- Moving too quickly over the muscle tissue which prevents myofascial release.
- Holding your breath rather than maintaining steady, rhythmic oxygen flow.
- Placing the roller directly on the bony protrusion of the knee joint.
- Arching the lower back excessively instead of maintaining a neutral spine.
