Exercise Band Plantarflexion Guide | Calf Training
Learn the correct technique for resistance band plantarflexion to strengthen your calves and improve ankle mobility with this step-by-step guide.
How to Perform
- Sit on the floor with one leg extended straight in front of you and the other bent comfortably.
- Loop a long resistance band around the ball of your extended foot, holding the ends firmly with both hands to create tension.
- Flex your foot back toward your shin to reach the starting position.
- Push against the band by pointing your toes away from your body as far as comfortable.
- Pause for one second at the peak of the contraction, squeezing the calf muscle.
- Slowly return your foot to the starting position, maintaining tension on the band throughout the movement.
- Complete the set on one leg before switching to the other.
Common Mistakes
- Performing the movement too quickly and using momentum.
- Allowing the knee to bend or lift off the floor during the exercise.
- Using a band with insufficient resistance to challenge the muscle.
