Cycling Cardio Session Guide | Lower Body Strength
Master the cycling cardio session. Learn proper bike setup, pedaling technique, and common mistakes to build lower body strength and endurance.
How to Perform
- Adjust the seat height so your leg has a slight bend at the bottom of the pedal stroke when your foot is flat.
- Position the handlebars at a height that allows you to maintain a flat back and a relaxed grip without straining your neck.
- Secure your feet in the pedals or cages and begin pedaling at a low resistance to warm up the knee joints.
- Increase the resistance until you feel a consistent tension that requires effort but does not cause your form to break.
- Maintain a steady cadence between 80 and 100 RPM for aerobic conditioning or higher resistance for strength building.
- Engage your core throughout the session to stabilize your torso and prevent excessive side-to-side swaying.
- Reduce resistance gradually for the final five minutes to allow your heart rate to return to a baseline level.
Common Mistakes
- Setting the seat too low which puts excessive pressure on the knee caps.
- Gripping the handlebars too tightly and tensing the shoulders.
- Rocking the hips back and forth due to insufficient core engagement or excessive resistance.
- Pedaling with only the toes instead of distributing force through the midfoot.
