How to Do Clockwise Neck Circles: Form and Benefits

Master the clockwise neck circle to improve mobility and reduce stiffness. Follow our expert guide for safe, effective neck stretching.

How to Perform

  1. Sit or stand with a tall, neutral spine and your shoulders relaxed away from your ears.
  2. Gently drop your chin toward your chest until you feel a mild stretch in the back of your neck.
  3. Slowly roll your right ear toward your right shoulder while keeping your gaze forward.
  4. Continue the motion by tilting your head back to look toward the ceiling without collapsing into the spine.
  5. Roll your left ear toward your left shoulder to complete the upper half of the circle.
  6. Bring your chin back down to your chest and repeat the movement in a fluid, continuous motion.

Common Mistakes

  • Moving too fast which can lead to dizziness or muscle strain.
  • Shrugging the shoulders upward during the rotation.
  • Holding the breath instead of maintaining a steady, natural rhythm.
  • Forcing the range of motion beyond the point of comfort.
