Rotary Torso Machine Guide: Oblique & Core Strength
Master the rotary torso machine with our expert guide. Learn proper form, avoid common mistakes, and build a stronger, more stable core.
How to Perform
- Adjust the seat height so your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle and your thighs are secured against the pads.
- Select a comfortable weight and pull the adjustment pin to rotate the seat to your desired starting side.
- Sit tall with your back straight and grasp the handles or rest your forearms on the chest pads depending on the machine design.
- Exhale as you engage your core and rotate your torso away from the starting position using a slow and controlled motion.
- Pause briefly at the peak of the contraction while keeping your hips stationary.
- Inhale as you slowly resist the weight back to the starting position without letting the plates touch.
- Complete your set on one side before adjusting the pin to perform the same number of repetitions in the opposite direction.
Common Mistakes
- Using momentum or swinging the body rather than using core strength
- Allowing the hips and knees to shift instead of keeping the lower body locked
- Gripping the handles too tightly and pulling with the arms
- Rotating the neck independently of the torso
