Master the Pull-up Isometric Hold to improve pulling power and bicep definition with our clear, step-by-step strength coaching guide.
How to Perform
- Stand beneath a pull-up bar and grip it with your palms facing toward you at shoulder-width apart.
- Pull yourself upward or use a box to jump until your chin is clearly above the bar.
- Tightly squeeze your shoulder blades together and down while keeping your core engaged to prevent swinging.
- Maintain a 90-degree or less angle at the elbows, focusing on driving your elbows toward your ribs.
- Hold this static position for the prescribed duration while maintaining a steady breathing pattern.
- Lower yourself under full control back to a dead hang position before releasing the bar.
Common Mistakes
- Shrugging the shoulders up toward the ears
