How to Perform
- Adjust your bench to an incline between 60 and 75 degrees and sit back firmly against the padding.
- Lift the dumbbells to shoulder height with your palms facing forward and your elbows tucked slightly inward.
- Exhale as you press the weights straight up until your arms are fully extended but not locked out.
- Pause for a brief second at the top of the movement while maintaining tension in your shoulders.
- Inhale as you slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position at ear level.
- Keep your feet planted firmly on the ground to provide a stable base throughout the set.
Common Mistakes
- Arching the lower back excessively away from the bench padding.
- Flaring the elbows out 90 degrees which increases stress on the rotator cuff.
- Clanging the dumbbells together at the top of the rep.
- Using momentum or leg drive instead of controlled shoulder strength.
