Master the Hercules Pillars exercise to improve bicep peak and forearm stability. Learn proper form, common mistakes, and expert tips for this cable hold.
How to Perform
- Position yourself in the center of a dual cable crossover machine with the handles set at shoulder height.
- Grasp one handle in each hand and step forward slightly to create initial tension in the cables.
- Extend your arms out to your sides until they are fully straight and parallel to the floor.
- Maintain a slight bend in your elbows and squeeze your biceps and triceps simultaneously to stabilize the weight.
- Hold this static position for the duration of the set while keeping your chest upright and your shoulder blades retracted.
- Slowly release the handles back to the starting position once the time interval is complete.
Common Mistakes
- Bending the elbows too much which shifts the load away from the biceps.
- Shrugging the shoulders toward the ears and engaging the upper traps excessively.
- Arching the lower back to compensate for heavy weight.
