Master the drop curl with our expert guide. Learn the proper technique to build bigger biceps through controlled eccentric movement and time under tension.
How to Perform
- Stand upright holding a pair of dumbbells at your sides with a neutral grip.
- Curl the weights toward your shoulders while rotating your palms to face upward as you reach the top of the movement.
- At the peak of the contraction, pause for one second to squeeze the biceps.
- Slowly lower the dumbbells over a count of three to four seconds to emphasize the eccentric phase.
- Maintain a slight bend in your elbows at the bottom of the movement before beginning the next repetition.
- Keep your elbows pinned to your ribcage throughout the entire range of motion.
Common Mistakes
- Using momentum or swinging the torso to lift the weights
- Allowing the elbows to drift forward or away from the body
- Dropping the weights too quickly during the lowering phase
