How to Perform
- Secure your feet under the leg pads and sit on the end of a bench set to a 15 to 30-degree decline.
- Lie back slowly while bringing the dumbbells to the sides of your chest with a neutral or overhand grip.
- Press the weights upward toward the ceiling until your arms are fully extended but not locked out at the elbows.
- Lower the dumbbells under control until they are level with your chest, feeling a stretch in the lower pectorals.
- Keep your elbows tucked at a 45-degree angle to your torso throughout the entire range of motion.
- Exhale as you drive the weights back to the starting position, focusing on squeezing the chest muscles at the top.
Common Mistakes
- Clashing the dumbbells together at the top of the movement
- Extending the arms too far toward the feet rather than straight up
